چکیده

eonatal intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) is observed less frequently in full-term infants compared to preterm infants. However, the ICH in full-term infants has characteristics different from those in preterm infants. It has been suggested that the ICH in full-term infants is closely related to mechanical damage such as birth injury and perinatal hypoxic events, while in preterm infants they are associated with anatomical and functional immaturity in cerebral blood vessels. Furthermore, the anatomical locations of hemorrhage are different between full-term and preterm infants; and subdural or subarachnoidal hemorrhage is more frequent in full-term infants. Therefore, we focused on the clinical course of 8 cases of ICH among 6,600 term vaginal deliveries in Kitasato University Hospital as a representative Japanese perinatal center to elucidate clinical characteristics of ICH in full-term infants. Risk Factors Affecting the Severity of Full-Term Neonatal Retinal Hemorrhage

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to explore the underlying clinical factors associated with the degree of retinal hemorrhage (RH) in full-term newborns. METHODS A total of 3054 full-term infants were included in this study. Eye examinations were performed with RetCamIII within one week of birth for all infants. Maternal, obstetric, and neonatal parameters were compared between newborns...

Does transport affect the incidence of intraventricular hemorrhage in preterm infants?

Objective: Preterm infants are prone to intraventricular hemorrhage. They may suffer from significant morbidity and mortality particularly in those with high-grade hemorrhage. Our objective was to determine the incidence of intraventricular hemorrhage in premature infants transported to a tertiary center compared with those delivered at the level III facility.  Methods: We evaluated all prematu...

Unexplained massive subdural haematoma in a newborn delivered by elective caesarian section: a case report

Symptomatic subdural haematoma (SDH) in term infants typically occur following traumatic vaginal delivery. Emergency Caesarean Section (EmC/S) carried out after failed attempts at vaginal delivery may also be complicated by symptomatic SDH but spontaneous symptomatic SDH complicating Elective Caesarean Section (ElC/S) is a rarity. We describe a case of massive SDH in a term baby delivered by El...
